About PetTravelCheck

What is this?

PetTravelCheck is a free compliance tool built to help pet owners navigate EU and UK pet travel requirements. It covers the 21-day rabies vaccination waiting period, tapeworm treatment windows, Animal Health Certificate deadlines, and destination-specific rules for 31 European countries.

This is an independent project — not affiliated with any government body, veterinary organisation, or travel company. It was built by a pet owner who got frustrated trying to work out pet travel compliance dates manually and wanted a reliable, no-nonsense calculator.

How requirements are sourced

All requirements are derived from publicly available official sources:

Requirements are reviewed and updated periodically. A "last reviewed" date is shown on pages where time-sensitive rules apply.

What this tool can and cannot do

It can: calculate whether your pet meets the rabies 21-day waiting period based on vaccination date and travel date, calculate the tapeworm treatment window for UK, Ireland, Finland, Malta, and Norway travel, and show you a destination-specific checklist of requirements.

It cannot: replace a conversation with your vet, account for country-level policy changes not yet reflected in the tool, or provide legal advice. Regulations can change — always confirm current requirements directly with your vet and the destination country's competent authority before travel.

The PDF report

A downloadable PDF report (€4.99) is available after using the calculator. It contains exact compliance dates, a printable checklist formatted for sharing with a vet, and a timeline of actions required before travel. Payment is handled securely by Stripe.

Accuracy and updates

Every effort is made to keep the information accurate and current. The April 2026 transition under the EU Animal Health Law (Regulation 2016/429) has been incorporated where applicable. If you spot an error or outdated requirement, please let us know.
